Adidas Nemeziz 17+ – the tapetastic soccer cleats to have this summer
The reviews on the Adidas Nemeziz 17+ are as fantastic as expected. The soccer cleats (check lowest prices on Amazon) made from tape offer a fresh breath to what can seem as a stagnant niche at the moment. There always are those who argue that nothing new can be added to soccer cleats but the Nemeziz 17+ are here to prove Adidas has the pedigree to push for innovation.
In short, everything. But let’s go with the basics:
- Agilityknit 2.0 – yes it`s here
- Torshion tape design
- Torshionframe outsole
- Unique studs
The Adidas Nemeziz 17+ is indeed the first low-cut laceless design. Adidas die-hard fans will know that the first is not always the best as it takes time to perfect the right performance. But this time Adidas has delivered a laceless design which seems to be for everybody.
The German manufacturer used Torshion tape to design the ultimate upper which seems perfect for the summer.
You may ask yourself why tape?
There is no precise reason why Adidas went with tape, but we can guess its flexibility and stretchiness played an important role on the drawing board.
The fit is discussable, however. The soccer cleats seem to be oriented towards the slim foot and thus some players might experience lower comfort levels. And speaking of comfort, there are some technologies which will help you with the overall experience of the upper. For example, the silicone dots on the inside will prevent you from slipping inside the boots. And then there`s the comfort of the heel which is mostly based on the Torshion design and has been regarded as one of the best and most comfortable we`ve seen in these type of cleats.
It seems the upper was designed for the ultimate barefoot experience but since the tape is not too thick, Adidas used a foam-like material on the inside of the boots to create minimal cushioning.
As you may expect from a soft upper design, the outsole needs to be quite stiff. Adidas followed this unwritten rule by adding two Torshion bars on the outsole. This makes it very responsive with difficult angles.
The studs also come with plenty of versatility. The manufacturer combined the bladed studs with the conical studs to deliver a design which works well for both acceleration and deceleration.
The responsive feel of the Adidas Nemeziz 17+ seems to work for most players but it will be useful for those looking for a close fit. If you`re not into the laceless design you can always try the Adidas 17.1 version. Whichever design you choose, there is a good lockdown with both boots and it remains to be seen how the tape resists in time and if it manages to keep its elasticity thought one season.
